Our Work

We have been dabbling with this type of modern industrial-residential home aesthetics for quite awhile now, and we believe that in this project, we got it down to level that is close to ‘perfection’ at least in our eyes.

The brief from the clients asked for an extension/ expansion of their current 2 storey intermediate terrace house to 3 stories of residential space and with provision for solar panels as well. From their brief, and without demolishing the existing structure, we added a 3rd storey bedrooms’ floor and since the zoning requirements allowed it, we added an extra open air roof terrace above the 3rd storey, making this essentially a 4-storey house. Above the roof terrace, we deployed a ‘steel trellis’ which acted as the structure for which the solar panels can be mounted on.

With much of the steel elements exposed, the industrial aesthetics came together beautifully. In the building interiors, we opted to use wood in plentiful supply, this is to ‘soften’ and ‘balance’ off the industrial aesthetics somewhat, as we would still want to create a warm and cosy environment for the home owners.

Designing in this modern industrial-residential aesthetics has become something like a practice signature for us, and through this project, it has re-affirmed the suitability of this style and way of building for residential homes in Singapore.

We engage people and places to create designs that enrich the world.
